We love The Dittons. From our Hinchley Wood office, which covers Thames Ditton and Long Ditton, we’ve been serving the communities across both areas for some time. And now that Joanne Peel, our Accounts Assistant, lives in Thames Ditton, we have the perfect excuse to showcase one of Surrey’s much-loved riverside villages. So, for this month’s Spotlight on …, here she is with her highlights of one of Elmbridge’s top spots.
For a drink, I love going to …
If I want to be by the river, it has to be Ye Olde Swan. They have a great selection of gins! For a friendly family-run pub, it would be The Angel, which is opposite Giggs Hill Green.
My favourite restaurant is …
The Hideaway on Portsmouth Road, which is particularly lovely for brunch. Not only that, but it’s right on the river. The Limping Fox, which is a bit off the beaten track in Long Ditton, does a fantastic Sunday roast. It also has a wide selection of craft beers for those that like them.
When it comes to getting out and about, I like to…
Walk the dog along the tow path all the way into Kingston, or take him for a run around Long Ditton Recreation Ground. We are also spoilt for choice with health clubs and sports grounds; Colets and Nuffield, to name just a couple, are close by. Of course, with Thames Ditton station nearby, or Surbiton only 10 minutes away for the fast train into town, access to London couldn’t be easier. Equally, Kingston, which offers very good shopping for those who don’t want to go as far as London, is only 10 minutes away, too.
Thames Ditton’s hidden gem is …
The Nice Buns Café, which is located right in the village.
