This month, we’re shining a spotlight on Hersham. As it has its own golf course, it makes perfect sense for Lewis Costello, Sales Manager at our Claygate office and avid golfer, to share his thoughts on what makes this village – and nearby Walton-on-Thames – so special.
The Royal George. It’s recently been bought by Big Smoke Bew Co, so there is a great selection of beers on tap and the front beer garden is a cosy spot with some nice food – especially the starters! They’ve also been known to hold a beer festival, which is a fun community event.
This has to be Prima Fila in Walton-on-Thames. It’s a quaint and traditional Italian restaurant. Make sure you try the Rigatoni con Salsiccia! It is, without doubt, the best dish.
Spend some time honing any amount of golf skill I do have at Hersham Golf Club. It’s reasonably priced and really convenient for practicing on the driving range. Equally, you can play 18 holes there or, for those who like mini golf, you can enjoy their Safari Adventure Golf.
A short walk through Drakes Park will take you nicely along the River Mole and via some independent coffee shops in Hersham Village. Or, for a longer stroll, take the river path along the Thames by Walton and you’ll have plenty of options for an afternoon beer and some food.
It’s so convenient for a wide range of people. We are in close proximity to plenty of transport links, whether that be trains (25 min to Waterloo), airports (30 min to Heathrow and 45 min to Gatwick) and roads such as the A3 and M25. Also, we have great village events throughout the year, such as the Beer & Music Festival.
